The Last Fairy Tale
An Illustrated Children’s Book
The title of the book is The Last Fairy Tale, the subtitle of the book is A Very Fishy Story. It is designated for juvenile (0-12) but the humorous story is appropriate for all ages.
The book written in rhyme, tells why fairies no longer exist. It begins by describing all the many ways fairies were not actually very helpful to people. It stresses the point that it is not really helpful in life to have things just given to you. One is better off if one has to do things for oneself. The story tells how the fish of long ago were very smart, much smarter than they are now. The fish saw the damage the fairies were doing to people by just making their wishes come true without any effort on the person’s part. The fish then decided that for the sake of everybody, the fairies had to go. They met with the fairy king, and tricked him by telling him what every fairy most desired. That there was a place were people did not want their wishes granted. Of course there is no such place as that, but the fairies believed the fish, and headed out in mass to this wonderful island. Fairies an just “pop in” anywhere, but over water they have to fly, and as the fairies flew one the rivers, ponds, lakes, and oceans, the fish jumped up and ate them whole. The last to go the fairy king cursed the fish and took away their intelligence. Though some say they just got tired of thinking. The story ends with the moral that stresses the importance of self relience.
